As one of the leading sleep clinics for insomnia in Thailand, we understand that insomnia often stems from deeper medical or psychological issues that must be addressed in order to make a lasting change. At our rehab center for insomnia, we take a holistic approach to sleeping disorder treatment, which focuses on restoring balance to your overall well-being rather than addressing a particular set of symptoms.

Drawing on the latest research and clinical sleep studies, our therapeutic team will provide you with the highest level of support, guidance, and professional insight as you progress through your sleep anxiety treatment programs. During your time at our center for sleep disorder, you’ll learn how to implement and maintain healthy sleep hygiene practices and develop valuable relaxation skills that can be integrated into your daily life.

SLEEP REHAB FOR SUBSTANCE ABUSE DISORDERS

Research shows a close link between insomnia and substance abuse. People with insomnia may attempt to self-medicate with the use of drugs and alcohol, which can quickly lead to a substance abuse problem.

Meanwhile, drug users may develop insomnia due to the way certain substances can interact with a person’s nervous system, circadian rhythm, and sleep cycle. Sleep studies show that people who suffer from sleep disorders are about 5 to 10 times more likely to also meet the criteria for a substance abuse disorder.

Thankfully, co-occurring sleep disorders and substance use problems are completely treatable. As one of Thailand’s leading sleep treatment centers, we use an integrative method that targets both disorders at the same time. Treating multiple disorders simultaneously offers the best chances of successful recovery and minimizes the risk of relapse in the years ahead.

USING COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY TO TREAT INSOMNIA SLEEPING DISORDER

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) forms the basis of our insomnia disorder treatment program. During CBT, our highly experienced, Western-trained therapists will guide you through a series of structured sessions in which you’ll learn how to recognize and challenge the negative thoughts that contribute to sleeping problems.

Throughout your time at our sleep anxiety treatment facility, you’ll also explore practical strategies such as sleep restriction, stimulus control, sleep hygiene training, and relaxation techniques, which can help you maintain healthy sleeping habits.

WHAT IS INSOMNIA?

Insomnia is an extremely common sleep disorder that affects about 1 in 3 people globally. People with insomnia may have trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, and getting adequate amounts of quality rest. Insomnia disorders can have a significant impact on a person’s mood, energy, and ability to focus, and can affect a person’s ability to function properly during the day.

There are two types of insomnia sleep disorders:

  • Acute insomnia: Acute insomnia is a short-term condition that is usually triggered by a stressful event or experience. Acute insomnia typically lasts for a few nights and usually resolves itself without requiring professional insomnia treatment.
  • Chronic insomnia: Chronic insomnia is defined as disrupted sleep that occurs at least three nights per week for at least three months. There are many factors that may contribute to chronic insomnia, including medical issues, unhealthy sleep habits, environmental changes, changes to your sleep schedule, and more. Sleep treatment centers can help people with chronic insomnia identify, process and manage the root cause of their condition.

You may wish to consider seeking treatment for insomnia disorder if you experience the following symptoms:

  • Difficulty falling asleep
  • Waking up in the night or too early in the morning
  • Poor sleep
  • Loss of concentration
  • Fatigue in the daytime
  • Irritability and/or anxiety

What are the 3 types of Insomnia?

There are three main types of insomnia:

  • Acute insomnia: A short-term condition characterised by difficulty in sleeping. Acute insomnia is typically caused by a stressful life event.
  • Chronic insomnia: A long-term condition characterised by disrupted sleep occurring at least three nights per week for three months or longer.
Comorbid insomnia: Insomnia that occurs alongside another condition.

Can sleeping disorder be cured?

Sleeping disorders can be effectively treated through therapy and lifestyle changes. While medication can be useful for managing symptoms, they fail to address the underlying issues that cause insomnia disorders. Sleep disorders treatment centers offer specialised recovery programs to help people with insomnia.

When should I seek help for Insomnia?

You should see a doctor if your insomnia lasts longer than two weeks and/or if it has started to affect your ability to function in day to day life. You should also seek help if you have been told that you snore loudly or if you momentarily stop breathing while sleeping, as these symptoms could indicate the presence of sleep apnea.

Can you die from Insomnia?

There are a very small number of recorded deaths that can be attributed to an extremely rare type of insomnia called fatal familial insomnia. For the vast majority of people, insomnia is not a lethal condition, although it can have a major impact on a person’s quality of life.

What is the main cause of Insomnia?

Insomnia disorders are typically caused by high levels of stress, mental health disorders and the use of stimulants (including caffeine, nicotine and alcohol). Sleeping disorder insomnia can also be caused by lifestyle, such as shift work, keeping an irregular sleep schedule, napping during the day and watching screens before bed.

What is the best treatment of Insomnia?

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is generally regarded as the most effective way to treat insomnia. During CBT, your therapist will work with you to identify and modify the thoughts and beliefs that fuel insomnia, and help you develop practical techniques for improving sleep habits.

Frequently asked questions

What is the process of rehabilitation?

The process may differ, as programs are customised based on what the patient needs as well as the severity of the addiction or mental illness, but the goal of rehabilitation is always to ensure the individual’s well-being. Most treatment programs include: evaluation, detox or the clearing of alcohol and other drugs out of your system, psychological treatments, education sessions, and supportive services. When you transition into outpatient therapy, you may still have one-on-one or group therapy sessions and to some patients, these may last for the rest of their lives.

Do you offer outpatient treatment?

Only if you live in Phuket and have stayed with us for at least 28 days.

Do you offer shared rooms or private rooms?

We only offer private rooms.

How do I get to Phuket?

Phuket has direct flights from all over the world. You can also fly to Bangkok and take a domestic flight to Phuket.
