Recognizing the signs is the first step

Heroin dependence builds quickly and quietly, often starting with prescription painkillers long before anyone names it as addiction. These are the signs of heroin addiction that families and partners tend to notice first. If several feel familiar, it’s worth a confidential conversation.

Common signs of heroin addiction

  • Needing higher doses to feel the same effect
  • Using to feel normal rather than to feel high
  • Moving from prescription painkillers to stronger opiates
  • Preoccupation with obtaining and using
  • Withdrawal discomfort within hours of the last dose

Withdrawal symptoms during detox

  • Cramps, vomiting and diarrhoea
  • Cold sweats and fever
  • Insomnia and disrupted sleep
  • Anxiety and low mood
  • Intense physical cravings

If any of this feels familiar, please reach out.

A complex addiction

A holistic approach to a powerful dependency

Heroin creates one of the strongest physical dependencies of any drug, which is why willpower alone so rarely holds against opioid cravings. Heroin targets the brain's opioid receptors and, over time, the brain stops producing normal amounts of dopamine, so using becomes less about pleasure and more about feeling normal. Our heroin addiction treatment program treats both sides of that equation: the physical dependence and the psychological issues underneath it.

The path runs from medication-assisted heroin detox under round-the-clock medical care, through daily therapy with Western-trained counselors experienced in opioid addiction, into mindfulness, exercise and the habits that protect sobriety after you leave. All of it happens in a calm, private setting in Hua Hin, with a clinical team focused entirely on a small number of clients.

The treatment phases

Three pillars of heroin recovery

A safe, supervised start

For most clients, heroin recovery begins with a medically supervised detox.

Heroin withdrawal starts within hours of the last dose: cramps, vomiting, cold sweats, fever, insomnia and anxiety. It is rarely life-threatening, but it is intense enough that many people attempting to detox alone give up. Our medical team provides 24-hour care and, where appropriate, medication to ease the discomfort while your body adjusts to functioning without opioids.

  • Round-the-clock care from licensed medical staff
  • Medication to ease withdrawal where appropriate
  • Psychological support through the hardest days

Why distance makes recovery possible

Outpatient treatment leaves you inside the same environment, routines and relationships that fed the heroin addiction, and with a drug this physically demanding, that makes early relapse far too easy. Residential heroin addiction treatment in Thailand removes those triggers entirely, keeps medical help close day and night, and gives recovery the structure it needs to hold.

01

Distance from triggers

Away from the people, places and routines that keep the heroin cycle turning.

02

Round-the-clock supervision

Resort-calm surroundings backed by qualified medical staff, day and night.

03

A plan built for you

A heroin treatment program tailored to your clinical picture, not a fixed curriculum.

04

A real therapeutic community

A hard cap of twelve clients means genuine attention and deeper connection.

Is it time to consider heroin rehab?

Heroin is a fast-acting opioid derived from the opium poppy, and heroin addiction is a medical condition, not a failure of character. Whether injected, smoked or snorted, heroin produces an intense feeling of well-being, and because it acts much faster than other opioids, dependence can take hold quickly. Many people are surprised by how soon heroin use stops being a choice.

Heroin works on the brain’s natural opioid receptors, the same system that regulates pain and reward. With each exposure the effect diminishes, so higher doses are needed for the same result. Over time the brain stops producing normal amounts of dopamine on its own, and using shifts from chasing a high to simply trying to feel normal without the drug.

For many people, the path to heroin starts with prescription opioid painkillers, which carry a high addiction potential and act on the brain in much the same way. When a prescription runs out, heroin can appear as a more potent and affordable substitute. And because heroin produces stronger physical withdrawal than most other drugs, stopping without medical support is something few manage alone.

Deciding to give up heroin is hard, and committing to heroin rehab can feel harder still. It doesn’t have to be decided all at once. If several of the signs above feel familiar, for you or for someone you love, a confidential conversation with our team is a small, pressure-free first step.

Frequently asked questions

How can I help my loved one?

At The Diamond Rehab Thailand we are experts in getting your loved ones into heroin addiction treatment. To start, you can show your loved one our website, and they will often soon take an interest in our treatment center. If need be, we can also arrange an intervention at your home, carried out by a professional interventionist arranged by The Diamond Rehab Thailand.

How much therapy do I get?

At The Diamond Rehab Thailand, our clients get 3 lectures per day, and 3 one-to-one sessions per week. Besides that, we offer a lot of sports, mindfulness, exercise, and outings.

Will I be picked up at the airport?

Yes, our driver will be waiting for you at the airport and bring you to our center.

Is there an aftercare program?

Aftercare is essential after heroin addiction treatment, and therefore we offer two ways to do aftercare. Option one is weekly Zoom sessions with your focal counselor, who also treated you while at our center. Option two is that we bring you in contact with one of our aftercare partners around the world, depending on where you live.

Is my stay completely confidential?

Yes. Discretion is fundamental to how we operate, from your first call through to your time on site and aftercare. Private accommodation and careful handling of every detail are standard.

What does treatment cost?

Our fee is all inclusive, covering accommodation, clinical care, therapy, meals and excursions in one transparent figure with no hidden extras. Because length of stay varies, we discuss specific numbers on a confidential call.

Can family be involved in the recovery?

Family therapy is part of our approach, and we keep loved ones appropriately informed and supported throughout. Recovery is far stronger when the people around you are part of it.
