James Donovan

My name is James Donovan. I have been in my personal recovery journey for 11 years and in the professional recovery industry for 9 years and have a passion for working with others that suffer from substance use disorders.

I have experience working in many different treatment environments, from primary care rehabilitation centres, halfway houses, as well as reintegration programs across South Africa, using a variety of modalities to ensure clients are met where they are at and receive the best possible care.

I have completed a basic and intermediate addiction counselling certificate and registered with the board of addiction professionals South Africa and have a number of years in both inpatient and outpatient therapy.

My experience both professionally and personally assists me to focus not just on the basics of addiction, but on the psychology of addiction, addressing a variety of disorders and contributing factors to it, to ensure that effective treatment plans be established to promote growth and recovery with the clients that I work with.
